Girls just want to have fun
Remember being a teenager, especially when it was summer holidays? Where you had six weeks to just have fun with your friends? There was not the pressure of school and exams, your parents would give you a little more freedom so you could stay up late, or have your friends over, and the long hot summer days were just full of fun.
Why does it seem to be that because we grow up, we seem to get a little more serious? Even if you were serious as a teenager, the reliable and responsible one. Why does it seem to be you are now even more reliable and more responsible? Everyone knows that the can depend on you. No matter what.
Take a moment and have a think: when did you last have fun? The type of fun where you lost track of time and before you know it hours had passed, because you weren’t watching the clock. The type of fun where you laughed until you cried and your stomach was sore, where you weren’t concerned about the calories you were eating, because right there in that moment, you were more concerned about the experience feeding your soul.
Fun, it is so incredibly important to our lives, to our over-thinking brains that just can not switch off, because we are not fully in the present moment. Our brain is in overdrive, questioning what we are saying, and we are constantly worrying if we are saying the right thing. We have so many people expecting us to do so much today, can I really just sit here and enjoy the moment? Can I really just put my phone down, live in this moment and have a little fun?
Of course you can, fun is a beautiful way to connect with the present moment and deepen your relationship with those you are with. Fun is about pausing your responsibilities, your to-do list, everyone else’s demands, your phone, social media, what you are having for dinner and all that chatter that is running around in your head.
Fun pauses the mind. It connects you to you. It takes you out of your mind and into your body. It is about letting your hair down and just being in the very moment before you.
What activities do you consider fun? Here is a list that may help you out –
- Board games
- Theme parks
- Playing in the pool
- Bike riding
- Video games
- Being out in nature
- Sports
- Turning the music up loud, dancing and singing your heart out
The list of fun can really just go on and on. So this week I would like to set you a challenge. I would like to ask you to let your hair down and have some fun. Take an hour or two, and just do something that comes to mind when you think FUN! You deserve it. I would love to hear how you go, so please comment below.
