It is Sunday night, and the start of a new week is upon us. I find this a great time to connect with myself and ask what do I need for the week ahead?
You can make this a general theme of the week, perhaps like a word you can use to anchor to. You can ask yourself how do you want to feel this week? Do you want to feel calm, present, or perhaps active? Finding a word or a feeling to connect into for the week is a way to guide yourself without the pressure of a to do list, or a set goal.
So if for example you want to feel active, and use this word to guide you through the week, you will be aware of small pockets of time where you can move more. At work can you get up from your desk every hour and take a quick two minute walk around the office? If you are on your mobile phone are you able to walk at the same time? If you go the shops are you able to do a lap of the shopping centre? These are all small ways to feel active.
Can you take just five minutes tonight to ask yourself to connect with a feeling you want for the week ahead and brainstorm some ways you can bring this into your life? Feel free to email me if you need to bounce your ideas off someone, or you would like someone to check in with during the week.
There may be other times you want to commit to a specific action. So perhaps you are aware that your self care is lacking, and you want to really up the love for the week, this is when you may instead commit to a specific action. So I will use myself as the example for the one, as this week I am going to journal every morning when I wake up. I personally do not have a regular journaling practice, I find that instead of journaling I create space in my life to think through blocks, however what will happen is my heart will at times scream out to me to journal and this is where I am at the moment. I am feeling that desire to energetically clear out my thoughts, to write them on paper, to get out of my head and connect with my heart. It is when I feel this way I then commit to journaling. I am not sure how long I will feel this pull, and I allow myself the space to follow this feeling.
I understand that this may not be everyone’s approach. For me I do not have a set daily routine of how I connect with myself, I tried to bring that structure into my life, where I planned down to every 10 minutes of my day, and it just did not sit with me. So instead, I have a tool box of different options and I am guided by how do I want to feel this week.
I would love to hear from you though, how do you approach a new week? Do you have a set daily routine? Or what works for you? Please comment below.
(Day Seventeen: My focus for the month of April, is to blog everyday. I am setting aside 30 minutes at the end of the day to connect with my message to share with you. The idea behind this, is to limit the overthinking, to minimise the censoring and just to connect with a theme I would like to share for the day.)
