Every step you take forward, no matter how small a step, it is a step forward. Even when you feel like you are standing still.
When you have decided to make changes in your life, you are fully motivated and ready to just hit the ground running. You tell yourself it will take time; you know all good things do take time. But secretly you are thinking, I am going to smash this. Have you noticed what happens next? You hit a brick wall. Stop completely. Take a break. Tell yourself you are no good at anything. Give up for a really long time. Find something new to change.
I wonder what would happen if we showed ourselves a little bit of compassion and kindness?
Why do we set such high pressure on ourselves at the beginning?
We do not have super powers, and it is okay to take whatever size steps work for you when it comes to change. Some people take one giant leap, then stay there for a while, before another giant leap. While someone else may take ten small steps and just keep plodding along. This is not a race. It can all take as long as it needs to take.
But what about those days when it feels like you have taken all these steps and added some, but gone backwards? You know what you do – you show yourself love and kindness. You treat yourself as you would your closest friend.
Any changes you bring to your life will all take time, with their own beautiful perfect timing. You just may not be aware of it at the time. If you are leaping, taking small steps or feeling like you are standing still – celebrate yourself and every amazing thing you have done to bring you to the very moment you are in right now.
(Day Thirteen: My focus for the month of April, is to blog everyday. I am setting aside 30 minutes at the end of the day to connect with my message to share with you. The idea behind this, is to limit the overthinking, to minimise the censoring and just to connect with a theme I would like to share for the day.)
